Do you want to help your young child regulate their emotions? Maybe you have tried to instill discipline but feel like this has created even more intense emotions and more distance between you and your teenage child. You feel defeated and want to throw in the towel. Do you find it hard to set boundaries in this digital age? Like many parents, perhaps you often wonder: What is typical teen behavior or a sign of underlying trouble? Many of us are worried about our children's mental health and unsure of how to help. Learning how to express and manage emotions in a way that works is essential for our child's well-being as well as our own. Let's face it, adolescents these days have to deal with many complex issues like social media, bullying, body shaming, and violence. As parents, our upbringing and traumatic life experiences inform how we parent. Sometimes it can feel like its hard to know how to stop the cycle of intergenerational trauma.

I am a licensed psychotherapist in New York and New Jersey. I can help you and your child in this journey by providing a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space. I use a collaborative approach, where you, your child, and I will work together to grow personally and improve relationships.

I specialize in working with adolescents with emotional and behavioral issues. I use play therapy, art, CBT, and DBT to teach children how to deal with unwanted emotions in a healthy way, learn positive coping skills, and emotion regulation. I also use parent-child interaction therapy to help strengthen the bond and attachment between the child and parent while guiding and coaching parents in real time. I am an eclectic therapist; I use different modalities to work with your specific needs. I use relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, mindfulness, guided imagery, and meditation to help my clients learn how to regulate their emotions. Those skills are helpful and effective for anxiety, stress, ADHD, anger, or oppositional defiance.

About Daphnée

After ten years of honorable service in the United States Army, I returned to New York to complete my education. I went on to complete my post-grad at Columbia University, where I earned a master's degree in social work. Growing up, I was surrounded by mentors and people I admired. These mentors have played an essential role in my life and have inspired me to dedicate my adult life to changing the trajectory of the lives of the people I work with. I have over ten years of experience working with adolescents, adults, and families in many capacities.

I use a combination of different therapy approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma Informed Care, and Narrative Therapy, to help people deal with symptoms of anxiety, depression, ADHD, and other serious mental health diagnoses. I take a goal-oriented approach to help people fulfill their purpose-driven lives. My compassionate approach and authenticity facilitate an effortless rapport and a trusting therapeutic alliance.

I am fluent in English and Haitian Creole. I am at my happiest when taking care of my garden and many house plants. When not gardening, I enjoy hiking, cooking, reading, and spending time with my daughter.
